Over the past dozen years or so, a substantial amount of progress has been made on the development of the Internet. Owing to the creation of a wide variety of services utilizing two-way communications leading to the formulation of a "ubiquitous society", the Internet industry is expected to continue its meaningful contributions to the development of society. Since the establishment of the SBI Group in 1999, the Group has successfully developed widespread finance related businesses, based on the initial observance of the high potential growth and affinity between the Internet and finance. The launch of new businesses, such as SBI Sumishin Net Bank, SBI Insurance and SBI AXA Life Insurance, has increased the importance of the system infrastructure to support the continued growth of the SBI Group as a financial conglomerate.

The SBI Group must reaffirm its roots as an Internet based organization, by fully utilizing the Group's information system ecosystems as the base to unify finance and the Internet, and to realize "Finance 2.0". This will provide the organization with the powerful foundation that is required to support the Group's continued rapid growth. In 2008, the System Solution Business was positioned as a new core business, to provide system solution development and management services for financial institutions, search engine development and services centering on the Web 2.0 platform development management services, that is expected to evolve into the next generation infrastructure.
